CS10 “St. Kiril and Methodius” Primary School, Gabrovo
IN TENDER PROJECT

Existing treated floor area (usable floor space):
7 312.00 m²
The building is constructed in 1970. It has a concrete structure with external brick walls (25 cm.) and concrete flat double ventilated roof.
The building consists of four blocks:
Block A is administrative, with two floors and a treated floor area area of 394 m2;
In blocks B and C there are classrooms, specialized laboratories, two computer rooms and toilets.
Block B consists of three floors and a basement, with total area of 2116 m2.
In the basement, there are a kitchen and a dining room.
Block C consists of four floors and a basement with total area of 3997 m2.
The basement accommodates a small gym, storage rooms, a boiler room and several workshops.
Block D consists of two floors (basement and ground floor) both of them being used as sport halls.
The fully heated basement (blocks B, C and D) is partially below the ground level.
The windows have been replaced in 2005 with PVC and aluminum (in the gym) with double glazing and white float glass 4/20/4mm.
Since 2013, the school is connected to the central gas heating.
The Project proposes the following refurbishment steps:
STEP 1- roof insulation – placing 30 cm. glass wool insulation on the top of the lower slab of the ventilated double roof .
STEP 2 – mounting 20 cm EPS with graphite insulation on the walls, reduction of the radiator dimensions, improving the airtightness layer, implementation of the ventilation with heat recovery systems.
STEP 3 – External underground wall insulation, perimeter insulation, insulation above the ground floor slab in the Gym.
STEP 5 – Replacement of windows: The PVC windows will be replaced in 10 years, when they will be 20 years old. The aluminum windows will be replaced in 20 years, when they will be 30 years old.
STEP 6 – Implementation of Renewable Energy Sources
The expected Specific Heating Demands/ Primary Energy Demands are:
Blocks A, B, C:
Before 142 kWh/(m²a)/233 kWh/(m²a)
After: 17.3 kWh/(m²a)/80.5 kWh/(m²a)
Before 228,4 kWh/(m²a) / Overheating, no result in PHPP
After: 18,4 / 116,2 kWh/(m²a)
The project is on tender stage. The construction works are expected to start in february 2016. There are no new pictures and no challenges foreseen yet.
